Websites
During this week’s class we watched a video talking about web pages and how it is important for them to make web pages work for people with disabilities like partial or full blindness.
Accessibility is really important for a web page, we have always known that having a striking design and image on a web is really important because it captures the consumer’s sight, but what happens if a person is not able to see completely, and has partial-sight.
By accessibility we are talking what you first see when you get to a web page, these are the basic standards established by the web accessibility innovation (2018) related to the content including recommendations to get to be more accessible to people with different capacities.
E-commerce websites in Mexico are less likely to fulfill with the accessibility criteria compared to other websites and sites that include different organization and governmental information.
Regulations, when we talk about regulations we are talking about Mexico’s government stablishes a general law to promote inclusion with people with disabilities, this talks about the use of media communication, just like technology and information systems including the internet, but we are not able to see that in the same governmental web pages, this being least likely to expect on enterprises.
For what we would like to say that the commitment to these laws in question to these people who suffer from a sight-disability are really deficient to private and public level, which generates an uncomfortable environment to people who suffer from blindness or other sight related disabilities which makes them not able to have easy access to electronic commerce, education and governmental formalities. This types of errors make Mexican enterprises less competitive over international enterprises that do cover with the international regulatory framework, which slows down their capacity of internacionalization.
